Biography

Conceptual artist Mel Bochner was born in 1940 in Pittsburg, PA. Bochner has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including at Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY (1971); Kunstmuseum, Luzern, Switzerland (1986); Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, PA (2002); and Louvre Museum, Paris, France (2017). He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Using Walls, The Jewish Museum, New York, NY (1970); The Robert and Jane Meyerhoff Collection: 1945–1995, National Gallery of Art, Washington DC (1996); Open Systems: Rethinking Art c.1970, Tate Modern, London, UK (2005); and To Be Determined, Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas, TX (2020). Bochner currently lives and works in New York, NY.
