Biography

Meg Cranston was born in 1960 in Baldwin, NY. She received her BA from Kenyon College in 1982 in Gambier, OH and her MFA in 1986 from California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, CA. Cranston has been the subject of several sol exhibitions, including at the Santa Monica Museum of Art, Santa Monica, CA (1988); Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art, Rotterdam, The Netherlands (1998); Artspace, Auckland, New Zealand (2007); and Kunstverein Heilbronn, Heilbronn, Germany (2015). She has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Girl’s Night Out: Femininity and Masquerade, The New Museum of Art, New York, NY (1988); 54 x 54 x 54, Museum of Contemporary Art, London, UK (1999); Made in L.A., Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, CA (2012); and Class Reunion: Works from the Gaby and Wilhelm Schürmann Collection, Museum moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig, Vienna, Austria (2018). Cranston currently lives and works in Venice, CA.
