Biography
Matthew Angelo Harrison was born in 1989 in Detroit, MI. He received his BFA in 2012 from School of the Art Institute in Chicago, IL. Harrison has been the subject of several solo exhibitions, including Detroit City/Detroit Affinities, Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, Detroit, MI (2016); Field Station: Matthew Angelo Harrison, Broad Art Museum, East Lansing, MI (2018); Proto, Kunsthalle Basel, Basel, Switzerland (2021); and Dark Silhouettes, The Savannah College of Art and Design, Savannah, GA (2022). He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including The Politics of Portraiture, Jessica Silverman, San Francisco, CA (2016); I Was Raised on the Internet, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Chicago, IL (2018); YOU, Musee d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, Paris, France (2019); and Day Jobs, Blanton Museum, Austin, TX (2023). He currently lives and works in Detroit, MI.
