Mary Corse was born in 1945 in Berkeley, CA. She received a BFA in 1968 from Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles, CA. Corse has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including at the Clocktower, New York, NY (1981); Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY and Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles, CA (2018); and Amorepacific Museum of Art, Seoul, South Korea (2022). She has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Permutations, Light and Color, Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, IL (1970); Summer 1985: Nine Artists, Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, CA (1985); Singular Forms (Sometime repeated): Art from 1951 to the Present, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, NY (2004); and Multiple Sights: The Tenth Anniversary of the Long Museum, Long Museum, Shanghai, China (2022). Corse currently lives and works in Los Angeles, CA.
