Biography

Photographer Mark Berghash was born in 1935 in Buffalo, NY. He attended University of Buffalo from 1952-55, University of Vienna from 1955-56, and the Art Students League from 1957-60. He has been the subject of various solo exhibitions, including Indelible Images, Aspect of the True Self, The Jewish Museum, New York, NY (1982); Galut: Jewish Identity in Diaspora, National Museum of American Jewish History, Philadelphia, PA (1998); and Rehearsal, The Elisa Monte Dance Company, Photo Projects, New York, NY (2003). Berghash has also participated in several group exhibitions, including The Portrait Extended, Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, IL (1980); Contemporary Photographic Portraiture: Nine Contemporary American Photographers, Musee St. Pierre, Art Contemporain, Lyon, France (1987); From the Polaroid Collection, Metropolitan Museum of Photography, Tokyo, Japan (2000); and Dead End, Museum on the Seam, Jerusalem, Israel (2005). Berghash currently lives and works in New York, NY.
