Artist Details

Biography

Marisol Escobar was born in 1930 in Paris, France. She studied at Ecôle des Beaux Arts, Paris, France and School Arts Student League, New York, NY. She has been the subject of various solo exhibitions, including at the Chatham College Pittsburgh, PA (1978); National Portrait Gallery, Washington, DC (1991); and The Museum of Modern Art, Shiga, Japan (1995). She has also participated in many group exhibitions, including Pan American Art, The Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, IL (1959); American Sculpture: Folk & Modern, Queens Museum, Queens, NY(1977); New Dimensions in Drawing, Aldrich Museum, Ridgefield, CT (1981); Masterworks of Contemporary Sculpture (1970-1990), Isetan Museum, Tokyo, Japan (1991); and Stages of Creation: Public Sculpture, National Academy Museum, New York, NY (1998). Escobar died in 2016 in New York, NY.
