Photographer Marilyn Bridges was born in 1948 in Newark, NJ. She received her BFA in 1979 and MFA from 1981, both from Rochester Institute of Technology Arts Students League, New York City, NY. Bridges has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC (1984); Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Pittsburgh, PA (1994); Broad Art Museum, Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI (2017); and Akron Art Museum, Akron, OH )2017-18). She has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY (1982-83); Musée de la Photographie à Charleroi, Mont-sur-Marchienne, Belgium (1996); Museum für Gestaltung, Zurich, Switzerland (2012); and Nevada Museum of Art, Reno, NV (2017-18).
