Painter, sculptor, and writer Marcel Duchamp was born in 1887 in Blainville-Crevon, France. He attended the Académie Julian in Paris, France from 1904-05. He has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including at the Arts Club of Chicago, Chicago, IL (1937); Tate Gallery, London, UK (1966); and National Portrait Gallery, Washington, DC (2008-09). Duchamp has participated in various group exhibitions, including International Exhibition of Modern Art, Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn, NY (1927); and Duchamp, Man Ray, Picabia - The Moment Art Changed Forever, Tate Modern, London, UK (2008). Duchamp died in 1968 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France.
