Architect and furniture designer Marcel Breuer was born in 1902 in Pécs, Hungary. He studied briefly at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, Austria before joined the Bauhaus in Weimar, Germany. His designs include The Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY; UNESCO, Paris, France; and De Bijenkorf, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Breuer died in 1981 in New York, NY.
