Mac Adams was born in 1943 in Brynmawr, UK. He received a BFA from Cardiff College of Art, Cardiff, UK in 1966 and MFA from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ in 1969. Adams has been the subject of several solo exhibitions, including at Nigel Greenwood Gallery, London, UK (1978); Musee De Toulon, Toulon, France (1982); La Jolla Museum of Contemporary Art, La Jolla, CA (1988-89); Mudam Musee D'art Moderne, Luxembourg City, Luxembourg (2011); and Oscar Niemeyer Museum, Curitiba, Brazil (2021-22). He has also participated in various group exhibitions, including The Artist and the Photograph, The Israel Museum, Jerusalem, Israel (1976); Personal Visions: Places, Spaces, Bronx Museum, New York, NY (1978); The Real Big Picture Show, Queens Museum, Queens, New York (1986); Open ends-Sets and Situations, Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY (2000); and Crime in Art, Museum of Contemporary Art Krakow, Krakow, Poland (2014).
