Biography

Photographer, writer, and film producer Larry Clark was born in 1943 in Tulsa, OK. He attended Layton School of Art in Milwaukee, WI. He has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including at San Francisco Art Institute, San Francisco, CA (1971); Fotografiska Museet i Moderna Museet, Stockholm, Sweden (1986); Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Paris, France (2007); Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam, Amsterdam, The Netherlands (2014); and Philbrook Museum of Art, Tulsa, OK (2019). He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including An Exhibition of Photographs from the Collection of Sam Wagstaff, Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, DC (1978); The Young Rebel in American Photography, 1950–70, Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY (1992); Beautiful Losers, Cincinnati Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati, OH; Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco, CA (2004); and Wild Grass: Our Lives, Yokohama Museum of Art, Yokohama, Japan (2024). Clark currently lives and works in New York, NY.
