Komar and Melmid is an artist collaboration between Vitaly Komar (b. 1943, Moscow, Russia) and Alexander Melamid (b. 1945, Moscow, Russia). They graduated from the Stroganov School of Art and Design in Moscow, Russia in 1967. The duo has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including Museum of Decorative Art in the Louvre, Paris, France (1985-1986); Brooklyn Museum of Art, New York, NY (1989); Museum of Modern Art, Cologne, Germany (1997); Kunsthalle Vienna, Austria (1998); Venice Biennial, Venice, Italy (1999); Kawamura Memorial Museum of Art, Sakado, Japan (2003); Yeshiva University Museum, New York, NY (2002-2003).
In 2004, the collaboration ended.
