Artist Details

Biography

Interdisciplinary artist Kim Abeles was born in 1952 in Richmond Heights, MO. Abeles received her BFA in Painting from Ohio University, Athens, OH (1974) and her MFA in Studio Art from University of California Irvine, Irvine, CA (1980). She has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions at various institutions, including A.I.R. Gallery, New York, NY (1986); Santa Monica Museum of Art, Santa Monica, CA (1993); and Syo Gallery, Daegu, South Korea (2012). Abeles has also participated in several group exhibitions, including Kim Abeles, Peter Plagens and Scott Reeds, Orange County Center for Contemporary Art, Santa Ana, CA (1995); Por La Paz, El Museo de la Ciudad de Mexico, Oaxaca, Mexico (2000); and Do Not Destroy: Art, Trees, and Jewish Thought, The Contemporary Jewish Museum, San Francisco, CA (2012). Abeles currently lives and works in Los Angeles, CA.
