Kendell Geers

Biography

Conceptual artist Kendell Geers was born in 1968 in Johannesburg, South Africa. He has been the subject of many solo and two-person exhibitions, including at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa (1988); Vleeshal Center for Contemporary Art, Middelburg, The Netherlands (1997); Museum of Applied Arts, Vienna, Austria (2000); Contemporary Art Center, Cincinnati, OH (2004); and Haus der Kunst, Munich, Germany (2013). He has also participated in several group exhibitions, including Zuiderkruis, Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, The Netherlands (1994); South Meets West, National Museum, Accra, Ghana (1999); Looking both ways, Museum of the African Diaspora, San Francisco, CA (2006); BELIEVE, Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), Toronto, Canada (2018); and In the Garden, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Monterrey, Monterrey, Mexico (2023). Geers currently lives and works in Brussels, Belgium.
