Artist Details
Katharina Grosse was born in 1961 in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany. She studied at Kunstakademie Münster from 1982 to 1986 and Kunstakademie Düsseldorf from 1986 to 1990. Grosse has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including at the Altes Kunstmuseum, Bonn, Germany (1994); The Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, CA (2001); Nasher Sculpture Center, Dallas, TX (2013); Museum of Contemporary Art, Moscow, Russia (2015); Helsinki Art Museum, Helsinki, Finland (2021); and Kunstmuseum Bern, Bern, Switzerland (2023). She has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Abstraction/Abstractions – Geómétries Provisoires, Musée d´Art Moderne Saint-Etienne, Saint-Priest-en-Jarez, France (1997); Tokyo-Berlin/Berlin-Tokyo, Mori Art Museum, Tokyo, Japan (2006); Wahlverwandtschaften, The Latvian National Museum of Art, Riga, Latvia (2016); and Push the Limits, Fondazione Merz, Turin, Italy (2020).
