Artist Details

Biography

Kate Gilmore was born in 1975 in Washington, DC. She received a BA from Bates College in 1997 and an MFA in 2002 from the School of Visual Arts. Gilmore has been the subject of many solo and two-person exhibitions, including at the Contemporary Art Center, Cincinnati, OH (2006); San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art, San Jose, CA (2009); The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Ridgefield, CT (2014); and Ringling College of Art and Design, Sarasota, FL (2019). She has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Open House: Working in Brooklyn, Brooklyn Museum of Art, Brooklyn, NY (2004); The More Things Change, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco, CA (2011); Little Lower Layer, Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, IL (2017); and Self Adjacent, Visual Arts Center, Richmond, VA (2023). Gilmore currently lives and works in New York, NY.
