Artist Details
Painter Julie Heffernan was born in 1956 in Peoria, IL. She received a BFA in Printmaking and Painting from University of California in 1981 and an MFA from Yale University in 1985. She has been the subject of several solo exhibitions, including at the Hanes Art Center, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC (1999); Mint Museum of Art, Charlotte, NC (2004); Luxe Art Institute, Encinitas, CA (2008); Oklahoma City Museum of Art, Oklahoma City, OK (2012); and San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, San Angelo, TX (2017). She has participated in numerous group exhibitions, including California State Print Exhibition, Sacramento Art Museum, Sacramento, CA (1981); Animals as Muse, The Norton Museum, West Palm Beach, FL (1998); New Old Masters, National Museum, Gdansk, Poland (2006); Women’s Work, National Academy Museum, New York, NY (2012); and Getting to Know You, Cleveland Institute of Art, Cleveland, OH (2019). Heffernan currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
