Joseph Beuys was born in 1921 in Krefeld, Germany. He graduated from Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in Düsseldorf, Germany in 1953. Beuys has been featured in many exhibitions, including at Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, NY (1979); Seibu Museum of Art, Tokyo, Japan (1984); Tate Modern, London, UK (2005); Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY (2008-10); and Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art and Summerhall Arts Centre, Edinburgh, Scotland (2016). Beuys died in 1986 in Düsseldorf, Germany.
