José Manuel Broto was born in 1949 in Zaragoza, Spain. Broto studied at School of Arts and Crafts in Zaragoza, Spain. He has been the subject of several solo exhibitions, including at Museo Espanol de Arte Contemporaneo, Madrid, Spain (1987); Museo de Artes Visuales Alejandro Otero, Caracas, Venezuela (1992); Palais des Congrès, Paris, France (2000); Teruel Museum, Teruel, Spain (2008); and Instituto Aragonés de Arte y Cultura Contemporaneos (2015). Broto has also participated in various group exhibitions, including Impact III, Musée d’Art et d’Industrie, Saint-Etienne, France (1978); Barcelona Creacio, Museum of Art, Yokohama, Japan (1990); and Natural paradises, artificial reflections, Juan de Villanueva Pavillon, Royal Botanical Gardens, Madrid, Spain (2013). Broto currently lives and works in Mallorca, Spain.
