Mixed media artist Jorge Mendez Blake was born in 1974 in Guadalajara, Mexico. He has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including Isla Negra’s Treasure, Sala de Arte Público Siqueiros, Mexico City, Mexico (2005); All the Calvino Books (and Other Stories), Museo D’arte Contemporanea Villa Croce, Geneva, Italy (2012); A Message From the Emperor, Marfa Contemporary, Marfa, TX (2017); and Jorge Méndez Blake, Museum of Contemporary Art of Monterrey, Monterrey, Mexico (2024). He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Propulsión a Chorro, Museum of the Arts, Guadalajara, Mexico (2000); Stardust ou la dernière frontière, Museè d’art Contemporain du Val-de-Marne, Paris, France (2007); Requiem for the Bibliophile, Museum of Contemporary Art, Santa Barbara, CA (2014); and Architecture into Art: A Dialogue, Centro BotÍn, Santander, Spain (2020). Blake currently lives and works in Guadalajara, Mexico.
