Artist Details

Biography

Printmaker and sculptor John Buck was born in 1946 in Ames, IA. He received his BFA in 1968 from Kansas City Art Institute in Kansas City, MO and his MFA in Sculpture in 1972 from University of California in Davis, CA. Buck has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including at University of Kentucky Art Museum, Lexington, KY (1975); Palm Springs Desert Museum, Palm Spring, CA (1995); Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, Boulder, CO (2005); and Yellowstone Art Museum, Billings, MT (2010). He has also participated in several group exhibitions, including The American Artist as Printmaker: 23rd National Print Exhibition, The Brooklyn Museum, New York, NY (1983); Beyond the Bay: The Figure, Newport Harbor Art Museum, Newport Beach, CA (1993); The Legend of Bud Shark and his Indelible Ink, Museum of Contemporary Art, Denver, CO (2009); and Contemporary NW Art Awards, Portland Art Museum, Portland, OR (2011). Buck currently lives and works in Montana.
