Sculptor John Ahearn was born in 1951 in Binghamton, NY. He received his BFA from Cornell University in 1973 in Ithaca, NY. Ahearn has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions, including John Ahearn, Galerie Rudolf Zwirner, Cologne, Germany (1982); John Ahearn, The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, MO (1990); John Ahearn, A Decade of Figurative Sculpture, University Art Gallery at University of California, San Diego, CA (1995); and Works from Dawson Street and Walton Avenue, Alexander and Bonin, New York, NY (2014). He has also participated in many group exhibitions, including Fashion Moda, The New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York, NY (1980); Urban Figures, The Whitney Museum of American Art at Philip Morris, New York, NY (1988); Urban Images, Madison Art Center, Madison, WI (1989); and In and Out of Place: Contemporary Art and the American Social Landscape, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA (1993). Ahearn currently lives and works in New York, NY.
