Joe Doyle

Biography

Painter and printmaker Joe Doyle was born in 1941 in New York, NY. He received an MA in 1971 from San Francisco State University. Doyle has been the subject of various solo exhibitions, including at the San Jose Museum of Fine Art, San Jose, CA (1979); Illinois Metropolitan Center, Chicago, IL (1986); and Kennedy Art Center, Holy Names College, Oakland, CA (1990). He also participated in the group exhibitions Joe Doyle, Marta Thoma, Kim Thoman, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco, CA (2008-09) and Rosenblum and Doyle: New Formalism in Painting and Photography, St. Mary's College, Moraga, CA (2019). Doyle died in 2020 in San Francisco, CA.
