Artist Details
Jim Isermann was born in 1955 in Kenosha, WI. He received a BFA in 1977 from University of Wisconsin and an MFA in 1980 from California Institute of the Arts. He has been the subject of several solo exhibitions, including at the Centre National d’Art Contemporain, Grenoble, France (1999); The Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, CA (2002); Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven, The Netherlands (2009); and Pacific Design Center Design Gallery,West Hollywood, CA (2024). He has participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Southern California Artists, Los Angeles Institute of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, CA (1981); Conceptual Textiles, John Michael Kohler Arts Center, Sheboygan, WI (1981); Post-Hypnotic, The McKinney Avenue Contemporary, Dallas, TX; Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati, OH (1999); What If?, Moderna Museet, Stockholm, Sweden (2000); Contemplating the Void: Interventions in the Guggenheim Museum, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, NY (2010); and West By Midwest, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Chicago, IL (2018). Isermann currently lives and works in Palm Springs, CA.
