Jim Dine was born in 1935 in Cincinnati, OH. He received his BFA in 1957 from Ohio University in Athens, OH. Dine has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including at the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, The Netherlands (1966); Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati, OH (1988); National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC (2004); and Centre Pompidou Málaga, Málaga, Spain (2019). He has also participated in several group exhibitions, including Six Painters and the Object, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, NY (1963); Le Portrait Dans L'Art Contemporain, Musée d'Art Moderne et d'Art Contemporain, Nice, France (1992); Painting: Process and Expansion. From the 1950s to the Present Day, Museum Moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig, Wien, Austria (2010); and Jim Dine and Lee Friedlander: Work from the Same House, Figge Art Museum, Davenport, IA (2021). Dine currently lives and works between Paris, France and Walla Walla, WA.
