Artist Details
Jennifer Bartlett was born in 1941 in Long Beach, CA. She received her BA in 1963 from Mills College in Oakland, CA; her BFA in 1964 and MFA in 1965, both from Yale School of Art and Architecture in New Haven, CT. Bartlett has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions, including at Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati, OH (1975); The Tate, London, UK (1982); The Drawing Room, East Hampton, NY (2007); and The Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY (2019). She has also participated in several group exhibitions, including Painting: New Options, The Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, MN (1972); Block Prints, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY (1982); Seascapes in Confrontation, Museum of Modern Art, Oostende, Belgium (2003); and Experience & Expression, Detroit Institute of Arts Museum, Detroit, MI (2021). Bartlett died in 2022 in Amagansett, NY.
