Painter and illustrator Jean Carzou was born in 1907 in Aleppo, Syria. He attended the Kaloustian School in Cairo, Egypt. He also studied architecture in Paris, France. Carzou's work can be found in many public collections, including the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco, San Francisco, CA; Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, IL; and Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg, Russia. Carzou died in 2000 in Marsac-sur-l'Isle, France.
