Biography

Multidisciplinary artist Jane Benson was born in 1973 in Thornbury, UK. She received a BFA in Painting in 1994 from Edinburgh College of Art in Edinburgh, Scotland and an MFA in 1997 from School of the Art Institute of Chicago in Chicago, IL. She has been the subject of several solo exhibitions, including Painting and Decorating, The Chicago Project Room, Chicago, IL (1999); The Splits, Henry Street Settlement: Abrons Art Center, New York, NY (2012); Jane Benson: Half-Truths, Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati, OH (2017); and Jane Benson, Re-assembly, Priska Pasquer, Cologne, Germany (2022). Benson has also participated in various group exhibitions, including Greater New York, P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center and Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY (2000); Road Trip, San Jose Museum of Art, San Jose, CA (2008); On Another Note: The Intersection of Art and Music, Lyman Allyn Museum, New London, CT (2018); and Sound and Silence, Kunstmuseum Bonn, Bonn, Germany (2022).
