Artist Details

Biography

Photographer Jan Groover was born in 1943 in Plainfield, NJ. She received a BFA in Painting from the Pratt Institute in 1965 and an MA in Art Education from The Ohio State University in 1970. She was the subject of a solo exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY (1987). Groover has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including The Nation's Capital in Photographs, 1976: John Gossage and Jan Groover, The Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, DC (1976); Pictures Of The Real World (In Real Time), Le Consortium, Dijon, France (1994); Future-Present: Photographs of Children from the Reader’s Digest Collection, The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Ridgefield, CT (1999); and Pictures by Women: A History of Modern Photography, Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY (2010). Groover died in 2012 in Montpon-Ménestérol, France.
