James G. Davis was born in Springfield, MO in 1931. He received his BFA in 1959 and MFA in 1962 from Wichita State University in Wichita, KS. Davis has been the subject of various solo exhibitions, including at the University of Oregon, Eugene, OR (1961); and University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ (2004). His work can be found in many public collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY; Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, DC; Phoenix Art Museum, Phoenix, AZ and North American Mexican Cultural Institute in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.
