Painter and illustrator James Chapin was born in 1887 in West Orange, NJ. He attended the Cooper Union and the Art Students League of New York, both in New York, as well as the Royal Academy of Antwerp in Antwerp, Belgium. His work can be found in several public collections, including The Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, IL; Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas, TX; Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, Philadelphia, PA; and Asheville Art Museum, Asheville, NC. Chapin died in Toronto, Canada.
