Artist Details
Iakovos "Jake" Chapman was born in 1962 in Cheltenham, UK. He is involved in an artist collaborative with his brother, Konstantinos "Dinos" Chapman, until 2022. He studied at North East London Polytechnic from 1985-88 and the Royal College of Art from 1988-90. With his brother, he has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including at Institute of Contemporary Art, London, UK; Grazer Kunstverein, Graz, Austria (both 1996); Kunst Werke, Berlin, Germany (2000); and Hastings Museum & Art Gallery, Hastings, UK (2009). He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Apocalypse: Beauty and horror in contemporary art, Royal Academy of Arts, London, UK (2000); The Turner Prize, Tate Modern, London, UK (2003); Aftershock: Contemporary British Art 1990-2006, Capital Museum, Beijing, China (2007); and Curious, Bundeskunsthalle, Bonn, Germany (2010). Chapman currently lives and works in London, UK.
