Artist Details

Biography

Isa Gagarin was born in 1986 in Guam. She received her BFA in Painting from Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2008 and her MFA in Painting and Printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2018. Gagarin has been the subject of various solo exhibitions, including at Midway Contemporary Art, Minneapolis, MN (2009); Rochester Art Center, Rochester, MN (2011); St. Cloud University, St. Cloud, MN (2012); and Forage Modern Workshop, Minneapolis, MN (2019). She has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including A Study in Midwest Appropriation, Hyde Park Art Center, Chicago, IL (2013); The Candidates, Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA (2017); The Regional, Contemporary Art Center, Cincinnati, OH; Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, Kansas City, MO (2021-22); and Reclaiming Identity, Trout Museum of Art, Appleton, WI (2022). Gagarin currently lives and works in Minneapolis, MN.
