Artist Details

Biography

Harmony Hammond was born in 1944 in Chicago, IL. She received a BA in 1967 from University of Minnesota. She has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including at the PS1 Contemporary Art Center, Long Island City, NY (1979); Tucson Museum of Art, Tucson, AZ (1993); Center for Contemporary Arts, Santa Fe, NM (2005); The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Ridgefield, CT (2019); and Sarasota Art Museum, Sarasota, FL (2020). She has also participated in several group exhibitions, including Women Artists, Sarah Lawrence College, Bronxville, NY (1972); Rituals: A Cross Cultural View, Palo Alto Cultural Center, Palo Alto, CA (1986); Presswork: the Art of Women Printmakers, National Museum of Women in the Arts, 
Washington, DC (1991); High Times Hard Times: New York Painting 1967–1975, Center for Art and Media, Karlsruhe, Germany (2008); and Making Their Mark, Kemper Art Museum, Washington University in St. Louis, MO (2024). Hammond currently lives and works in Galisteo, MN.
