Artist Details
Hans Breder was born in 1935 in Herford, Germany. He has been the subject of various solo exhibitions, including at Hochschule für Bildende Künste, Hamburg, Germany (1964); MoMA P.S.1, Long Island City, NY (1984); Museum of Art, Ball State University, Muncie, IN (2004); and Museum Ostwall, Dortmund, Germany (2013). Breder has also participated in many group exhibitions, including Exhibition of Recent Acquisitions, The Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY (1967); Contact Zones: The Art of the CD-ROM, Centro de la Imagen, Mexico City, Mexico (1999); Watch This! Revelations in Media Art, Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, DC (2015); and Virtualities and realities, Center for New Media Culture, Riga, Latvia (2017). Breder died in 2017 in Iowa City, IA.
