Painter and educator George Cohen was born in 1919 in Chicago, IL. He received a BFA in 1946 from Chicago Art Institute and an MA in 1946 and PhD in 1948 from University of Chicago. Cohen's work can be found in many public collections, including at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco, CA; Carnegie Mellon Museum, Pittsburgh, PA; Minneapolis Museum of American Arts, Minneapolis, MI; and the Hirschhorn Collection in Washington, DC. Cohen died in 1999 in Chicago, IL.
