Artist Details

Biography

Video and installation artist Frank Gillette was born in 1941 in Jersey City, NJ. He briefly attended Columbia University and The Pratt Institute. He has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY (1977); Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, MA (1986); and Florida State University Museum, Tallahassee, FL (1994). He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Air, Everson Museum of Art, Syracuse, NY (1971); New American Video Art, Instituto de Norteamericanos, Barcelona, Spain (1985); The Exquisite Corpse, The Drawing Center, New York, NY (1993); and TV as a Creative Medium, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY; University Art Museum, Tallahassee, FL (1994). Gillette currently lives and works between Manhattan and East Hampton, NY.
