Biography

Antonio di Pietro Averlino, known as Filarete, was a Renaissance architect, sculptor and theorist born in Florence, Italy in 1400. Famous buildings designed by Filarete include Sforza Castle, Milan, Italy and Milan Cathedral, Milan, Italy. His work and theories would influence other architects, such as Leonardo da Vinci.

Filarete died in Rome, Italy in 1469.
