Faiza Butt was born in 1973. She received a BFA in Painting in 1993 from National College of Arts in Lahore, Pakistan and her MA in 1999 from Side School of Fine Art in London, UK. Butt has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including at Bartle Arts Trust, Durban, South Africa (1995); The Art Exchange, University of Essex, UK (2015); and The Attenborough Art Centre, University of Leicester, UK (2016). Butt has also participated in several group exhibitions, including Billboards Against Violence, Goethe-Institut, Lahore, Pakistan (1996); Beyond Borders, National Gallery of Modern Art, Mumbai, India (2005); Contemporary Art from Pakistan, Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati, OH (2011); and The Unbreakable Rope: an Exploration of Sexuality in Islam, Free Word Centre, London, UK (2016). Butt currently lives and works in London, UK.
