Erik Bulatov

Biography

Erik Bulatov was born in 1933 in Yekaterinburg, Russia. In 1958 he graduated from The Institute of Art in Surikow, Russia. Bulatov has been the subject of several solo exhibitions, including at Kunsthalle Zürich, Zürich, Switzerland (1988); Musée d’Art moderne de la Ville de Paris, Paris, France (2007); Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, Moscow, Russia (2015); and Tate Modern, London, UK (2017). He has also participated in many group exhibitions, including Unofficial Soviet Art, Institute of Contemporary Arts, London, UK (1977); Humanism and technology. The human figure in industrial society, National Museum of Contemporary Art Korea, Seoul, South Korea (1994); RUSSIA!, Salomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, NY (2005); and Victory Over the Sun, The Israel Museum, Jerusalem, Israel (2017). Bulatov currently lives and works in Paris, France.
