Painter Elaine de Kooning was born in 1918 in Brooklyn, NY. She studied at the Leonardo de Vinci Art School in New York, NY and the American Artists School in New York, NY. de Kooning was the subject of many solo exhibitions, including at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM (1957); and Montclair Art Museum, New Jersey, NJ (1973). She has also participated in many group exhibitions, including Young American Painters, The Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY (1956); and at the Lyman Allyn Museum, New London, CT (1959); Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY (1963); and Center for Contemporary Art Sacramento, Sacramento, CA (2006). de Kooning died in 1989 in Southampton, NY.
