Performance artist Ei Arakawa was born in 1977 in Fukushima, Japan. He has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions, at venues including Franco Soffiantino Arte Contemporanea, Turin, Italy (2008); Midway Contemporary Art, Minneapolis, MN (2016); and Tate Modern, London, UK (2021). He has also participated in several group exhibitions, including 2008 Altoids Award, New Museum, New York, NY (2008); Roppongi Crossing, More Art Museum, Tokyo, Japan (2013); The Ocean After Nature, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco, CA (2016); and Art of Sport, Copenhagen Contemporary, Copenhagen, Denmark (2021). Arakawa currently lives and works in Los Angeles, CA.
