Biography

Douglas Huebler was born in 1924 in Ann Arbor, MI. He received a BS in 1952 from University of Michigan and an MFA in 1955 from University of Michigan. Huebler has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA (1972); Musée d’Art Contemporain, Lyon, France (1989); Camden Arts Centre, London, UK (2002); and Musée d’Art Moderne et Contemporain, Geneva, Switzerland (2006). He has participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Primary Structures, Jewish Museum, New York, NY (1966); Als Boek, Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, The Netherlands (1973); Voilà: Le monde dans la tête, Musée dArt Moderne de la Ville de Paris, Paris, France (2000); Nervous Systems, Haus de Kuluren der Welt, Berlin, Germany (2016); and Together in Time: Selections from the Hammer Contemporary Collection, Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, CA (2023). Huebler died in 1997 in Truro, MA.
