Sculptor Dimitri Hadzi was born in 1921 in New York, NY. He studied Painting and Sculpture at the Cooper Union. He has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including at The New Gallery, Hayden Library, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA (1963); Fogg Art Museum, Harvard University Art Museum, Cambridge, MA (1984); The Phillips Collection, Washington, DC (1991); and Hellenic Cultural Foundation, New York, NY (1998). He has also participated in several group exhibitions, including New Talent IX: Pierre Clerk, Dimitri Hadzi, Robert Kabak, The Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY (1956); Art After World War II: Europe, Latin America, and North America, The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, NY (1979); The Unique Print, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA (1990); A Passionate Eye – The Weiner Family Collection, Palm Springs Art Museum, Palm Springs, FL (2016); and American Watercolors, 1880-1990: Into the Light, University Research Gallery, University Teaching Gallery, University Study Gallery, Harvard Art Museums, Cambridge, MA (2023). Hadzi died in 2006 in Boston, MA.
