Photographer Diane Arbus was born in 1923 in New York, NY. She studied photography with Lisette Model in New York from 1955-57. Arbus has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including New Documents, Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY (1967); Diane Arbus: Magazine Work 1960-1971, Helen Foresman Spencer Museum of Art, Lawrence, KS (1984); Diane Arbus: Revelations, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco, CA (2003); Diane Arbus: American Portraits, National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, Australia (2016); and ARTIST ROOMS: Diane Arbus, Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum, Leamington Spa, England (2019).
