Painter, printmaker, designer, and photographer David Hockney was born in 1937 in Bradford, UK. He graduated in 1958 from Bradford School of Art and in 1962 from Royal College of Art. He has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including at Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris, France (1975); Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, MN (1983); Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo, Japan (1996); Fleurs Fraiches Fondation Pierre Bergé - Yves Saint Laurent, Paris, France (2011); and Museum Würth 2, Künzelsau, Germany (2023). He has participated in several group exhibitions, including Kompass II: Contemporary Paintings in London, Stedelijk van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven, The Netherlands (1962); Drawing Now: 1955–1975, The Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY (1976); Acquisition Priorities: Aspects of Postwar Painting in Europe, Solomon R.
