Artist Details
Dan Flavin was born in 1933 in Jamaica, NY. He has been the subject of several solo exhibitions, including at the Centro Cultural Light, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (1997); Deutsche Guggenheim, Berlin, Germany (1999); and The Morgan Library & Museum, New York, NY (2012). He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including The First Show: Painting and Sculpture from Eight Collections, 1940-1980, Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, CA (1983); Collection, Nouvelle Presentation, Musée Art Contemporain, Lyon, France (2003); and Design‚ Art: Functional Objects from Donald Judd to Rachel Whiteread, Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, New York, NY (2004). Flavin died in 1996 in Riverhead, NY.
