Artist Details
Sculptor Clyde Connell was born in 1901 in Belcher, LA. She graduated from Breneau College in 1919 and Vanderbilt University in 1920, and she studied at George Doke Studio from 1925-27. Connell has been the subject of several solo exhibitions, including at Alexandria Museum of Art, Alexandria, LA (1982); Firehouse Arts Center, Norman, OK (1983); Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art, Winston-Salem, NC (1985); and Stoner Arts Center, Shreveport, LA (1986). She has also participated in many group exhibitions, including Louisiana Major Works, Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans, LA (1980); Collage and Assemblage, Mississippi Museum of Art, Jackson, MS (1982); Just Like a Woman, Greenville County Museum of Art, Greenville, NC (1988); and Different Drummers, Hirshorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington, DC (1989). Connell died in 1998 in Shreveport, LA.
