Cheryl Donegan was born in 1962 in New Haven, CT. She received a BFA in Painting in 1984 from the Rhone Island School of Design in Providence, RI and an MFA in 1990 from Hunter College in New York, NY. Donegan has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including at Rockland County Museum of Art, Rockland County, NY (2009); New Museum, New York, NY (2016); Aspen Art Museum, Aspen, CO (2018); and Contemporary Art Museum Houston, Houston, TX (2019). She has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Horizons, The Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati, OH (1994); Into Me/Out of Me, PS1 MoMA, Long Island City, NY (2006); Paint Things, deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, Lincoln, MA (2013); and How to Be Unique, Kienzle Art Foundation, Berlin, Germany (2016). Donegan currently lives and works between New York, NY and Stria, Croatia.
