Artist Details
Charles Garabedian was born in 1932 in Detroit, MI. He received a BA in History from University of Southern California in 1950, and an MA from University of California Los Angeles in 1961. He has been the subject of several solo exhibitions, including at the La Jolla Museum of Art, La Jolla, CA (1966); The Arts Club of Chicago, Chicago, IL (1985); and Santa Barbara Museum of Art, Santa Barbara, CA (2011). He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Industry Collects Art, Westside Jewish Community Center, Los Angeles, CA (1964); Imagination, Los Angeles Institute of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, CA (1976); Content: A Contemporary Focus, 1974-1984, Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC (1984); Pacific Light: California Watercolor Refracted 1907-2007, Nordic Watercolor Museum, Skarhamn, Sweden (2008); and The Human Spirit: Contemporary Figuration as an Expression, of Humanism, Richmond Art Center, Richmond, CA (2016). Garabedian died in 2016 in Santa Monica, CA.
